The Morris Proper

As part of a larger hospitality build-out for The Morris Proper in Morristown, NJ, our team was brought in to design, fabricate, finish, and install a custom shelving feature that would serve as both a functional element and a visual focal point within the space. The design team called for a refined material palette and a finish approach that would feel layered, warm, and intentional.

Our solution:

We produced a custom shelving system combining solid walnut with hand-painted brass components. The walnut was carefully selected and finished to highlight the natural depth and movement of the grain, while the brass elements received a hand-applied patina to create subtle variation, richness, and character across each surface.

Achieving the desired finish required controlled layering and detailed handwork to ensure consistency while preserving the nuanced tonal shifts that give patinated brass its distinctive look. The result is a shelving installation that balances durability with craftsmanship, built to withstand hospitality use while elevating the overall atmosphere of the restaurant.

From fabrication through final installation, every detail was executed to meet the exacting standards of the design team and to integrate seamlessly within the broader architectural vision of the space.
